The Prayer subject is a very important subject and cannot be overreached, just like faith
What is Prayer?
By definition, we all know that prayer is a dialogue or a conversation, or a communication between man and God.
But when you go deep, you will understand that prayer is more than that.
Prayer is:
- A time of intimacy with God
- The official way to communicate with God
- The official way to invite God into your affaires.
In most case, heaven do not move unless we pray, that the reason why even when you are under attach while sleeping, God will open your eyes to see, so you can wake-up to pray.

Jeremiah 3:33 (NKJV)
33 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
God has many things to reveal to us, but we need to pray, to call on him.
5 Reason why you mast pray
Prayer is not only to ask, some people only pray when they are in trouble or have a need
- Jesus Prayed
Mark 1:35 And in the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and prayed there for a time. (NASV)
Luke 6:12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. (NIV)
Matthew 14:23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. (NIV)
Matthew 26:36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” (NKJV)
The bible says we need to be imitators of God as beloved children (Ephesians 5:1)
Jesus is God who came in the flesh, he is the only one we can imitate as God the father never left his throne, Jesus our Lord and model, prayed, this means we need to pray.
Jesus is God, he never prayer before coming in this world, but when he entered the world, he started praying, this is to show you how prayer is a mast for us children of God while we still in this world.

- The Word of God asks us to Pray
James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. (ESV)
1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing (ASV)
We pray because the word of God asks us to pray, God can not ask you to do something if there is no benefit, so we pray by obedience to the recommendation of the word of God.
- There is Protection in prayer
Psalms 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (NKJV)
Prayer is also called going in the secret place, we need to understand that when you pray, you spend time with God and you are in his presence, and in his present, you are protected.
- Prayer makes God’s power available
James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. (AMP)
When you pray fervently, you make power available, you my not see the power right away, but you are building it up.
The Lord spent about 6 hours in prayer after the multiplication of bread, and when he came down, his first challenge was, there was not a boat to take him where he anted to go, then, he worked on water, when you spend time with God, your obstacles, your challenges, will become your testimonies
- To access the mysteries of God
Daniel Prayed and during the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven (Daniel 2:19)
Psalms 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (NKJV)
Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ (NIV)
There are secret things of God, you get them in the place of prayer, when you pray, God will reveal to you, the direction you need to take.
The reasons why we need to pray is not limited to the above five, you can add as much as you can with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the light of the word of God
